How to be a Disruptor
There is an interesting article over the Fobes magazine titled “How to be a Disruptor”. In the article Clayton Christensen, author of The Innovator’s Dilemma, argues that for every successful disruptor dozens have tried and failed.
What is a disruptive innovation in the first place? According to Christensen “disruptive innovations trade off pure performance in favor of simplicity, convenience or affordability. Disrupters target customers who find existing solutions too expensive or too complicated. They offer “good enough” solutions at a lower price.”
The article mentions companies like Yahoo, Google, Apple, and Southwest Airlines. You can read it here.

Oh yes, the disruptors have been under the radar for quite some time until Business 2.0 came out with a special feature on them. They had a great list of disruptive start-ups. I believe, somewhere in the near future, we may be hearing more about some of them.
One interesting disruptor is EEStor. According to a CNN video news, they are working on a new type of energy storage device for electric cars that can power up in five minutes. Just imagine how this can change the transportation scenario if their disruptive potential comes to fruition.
Markk, you are right I heard about EEStor. They are trying to develop a hybrid batter-ultracapacitor. Should the invention become a reality we will certainly see some radical changes in most fields (cars, computers, electronic devices).
