Are you an innovator?

There is a very good post over the Manage to Change blog titled “Survivors, Innovators and the Status Quo”.

It basically outlines the differences between innovators and survivors. “Survivors wait to see which way things are moving before they commit” while “innovators are passionate. They try to lobby support to get an idea off the ground and they don’t care if the idea wasn’t theirs - as long as it’s got potential!”.

I couldn’t agree more with that. Actually I think there are many terms to call innovators such as knowledge activists, corporate rebels and so on.

There are many stories where entire companies were saved by the work and courage of single innovators. Sony, IBM and Shell are just a few examples, I will try to cover each of these stories in the near future. Stay tuned!

Please do, I am familiar with some of the stories, but not all the ones you mentioned. You are absolutely right, innovators are often rebels and free thinkers. It is important to note the successful innovators do do their research though. Rarely do they chance upon success

I agree. Often times behind what looks like a lucky shot there is plenty of hard work.
